2017 - African Flowers for Jessie.
2017 - African Flowers for Jessie.

I first learnt to crochet in Wankie around 1981-2, although I never got past the basic granny squares. Then Jess bought me a blanket kit for Christmas in 2016.

In 2017, I saw this African Flower design and as Jess was born in Zimbabwe, I thought it would work for her. And she loves Pink. Her request was that I only use what yarn I had.

I found a bag of peach coloured yarn in the garage but it limited me to a runner, so I then took it all apart.

so 2024, saw the flowers with a totally different look, and I started to join them together. Again it wasn't what I wanted so again I took out all the connecting stitches. It needed something different.

2025, and my ideas of a pink blanket had changed, the flowers are multi-coloured. And I did buy the green yarn, I just didn't have that amount of any colour in my garage.

2025 - boarders are done and it's ready to be posted.

This rug has evolved, morphed and grown, but it is still symbolic of my beautiful African born daughter. I hope she likes it, and that it will add warmth in her home next winter.
